I'm old

Titty

Loud Talker
I'm officially a grandfather. My oldest son (Titty Jr) and his wife welcomed a baby boy into the world on 2/9.

It's surreal witnessing your children ascend into adulthood. It's validation that you've done your job as parent. Yet it still feels like a weird mixture of pride, nostalgia, amazement and trepidation. Things will never be the same, but that dynamic shift brings excitement and hope.

We've endured a bit of a roller coaster these past couple of years. Accidents, injuries, illness and cancer scares--along with the imminent threat of age-related decline-- have certainly given pause. My wife and I have been together since we were teens and are fortunate enough to be able to navigate through all these trials and tribulations hand in hand. All things considered, I'm very fortunate.

I told Violet about your grandkid and she said congrats! Congrats from me also. She added, "Didn't his son have leukemia?" I admitted that I didn't remember, but if so extra congrats. The fucking roller coaster is real, man. I'm so proud of my son and his wife; they waited and planned out their futures in a way that I would have found uncomfortable and rigid. But, times are tough and they're kicking life's ass. They've just admitted to us that they're at the stage now where they're actively trying for a baby, so finger's crossed!

My third born son was the one who had leukemia. He turns 23 next month and is full of piss and vinegar.

Life has definitely been a strange trip, but I wouldn't change a thing. Now that there's more of it in the rearview mirror than in front of me, I try to focus on the good times as a way of staying humble and grateful.

Congrats to you and Vi. You're gonna love being grandparents.

I once knew a guy named Titty. Titty inhabited the internet of things. I have forgotten much of what has been exchanged over the years, but I've always known Titty to be an absolute fucking legend. I've asked myself, upon occasion, "what ever became of him...what's he up to now?"

It is almost as excellent of an update to answer those wondering questions as it is to know how well you are doing. Congratulations, Grandpa!
